Interview with Michel Parmigiani

Michel Parmigiani is no typical watchmaker. That’s why when Watch Journal had an opportunity to host the founder of Parmigiani Fleurier for a Collector’s Dinner with a choice group of Manhattan-based watch enthusiasts, we jumped at the chance.

Parmigiani Fleurier also designated the dinner as an introduction for the new Toric Chronometre, a watch inspired by the first timepiece that Michel Parmigiani designed for the brand almost 20 years ago.

Michel Parmigiani’s company is a paradox: an independent marque that supplies many of the finest brands in horology with cases, escapements, screws, and movements. It is as comprehensive a manufacture as you will find in Switzerland.

Just before we sat down to eat, I asked Parmigiani about his inspiration, his legacy, and the very special watch he wore to our dinner that evening earlier this month.
